In 1976, the Professional Writers of Canada was organized in Toronto.
In 1980, the chapter system began and Ottawa formed a separate chapter and has been active ever since.
The current executive includes Karen Opas-Lanouette, president, Stefan Dubowski, vice president and treasurer, Claudia Peel, publicity chair, and Suzanne (Sue) Bowness, past president.
